William "Bill" Richter, 59, of Siren passed away suddenly at his home on Thursday, October 18, 2012. Bill was born at the Siren Hospital May 14, 1953, to his parents Robert and Dorothy Richter. He grew up in the Frederic area, from Indian Creek to Trade Lake. He attended school in Frederic, Grantsburg, and Osceola. With his father's permission he joined the Marines at the age of 17. He served 6 years, including a tour in Vietnam. Bill worked for several farmers in the area, then was employed at Peterson/Jansson Lumber for 32 years. He purchased his home in 2004, enjoying his yard, entertaining his family, and "farming". His mother came to live with him in 2006, making it home for the whole family. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Richter; and his brother, Dean Richter. Bill is survived by his mother, Dorothy; his brothers and sisters, Patsy (Larry) Tucker, Robert Richter, Betsy (Wally) Rightman, Mitsy (Terry) Adolphson, Nancy Tober, Bernard Richter, Bonny Richter, Donna (Allan) Woodrich, Diane (Roy) Jones, Doug Richter, Dale Richter, and Darcy Richter; many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, other relatives, friends, and also very special friend, Tracie, and her children Jeremy and Keisha. A Memorial Service for Bill will held Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at 11:00AM at Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home in Siren. A visitation will be held for an hour prior to the service. Pastor Steve Ward will be officiating. Burial and Military Honors will be held at Fort Snelling at a later date. Online condolences can be made at www.swedberg-taylor.com.
