Violet Mae Fossum , age 85, of Frederic, WI, previously of Webster, WI, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2019, at Traditions of Frederic Assisted Living.
Violet was born on July 15, 1933, in Lafollette Township, to parents, Mathilda (Goepfert) and Arnold Strasser. She graduated from Webster High School in 1952. On September 5, 1952, Violet was united in marriage to Leonard Fossum and together they had 5 children. Violet was a stay at home mom and homemaker until her children reached schooling age, she then cleaned cabins for the Baptist Church Camp in Wood Lake Township, cooked for Headstart in Falun and ultimately retired as the Dietary Director from Capeside Cove Nursing Home in Siren .
She enjoyed outings to pick blueberries and loved to cook, clean and embroider. She loved her children and absolutely adored being a grandmother and spending time with her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed.
Preceding Violet in death are her parents; brother, Arnold “Bim” Strasser; sister, Shirley Strasser; loving husband of 59 years, Leonard Fossum; and grandson, Brandon Fossum.
Violet is survived by her sons: Lawrence (Kay) Fossum, Mitchell (Sharon) Fossum, Kevin (Laurie) Fossum; daughters: Susan (Duane) Olson and Wanda (Steve) Washkuhn; grandchildren: Jennifer (Sree) Manthana, Jeremy (Amy) Fossum, Erin (Charlie) Holmstrom, Cory (Natalie) Fossum, Kelsey (Matt) Erickson, Jeff (Amy) Tendrup, Amy (Ryan) Popham, Danny (Lynne) Doskey and Amanda (Shean) Doskey; sisters, MaryAnn Lunsman, Pat (Neil) Hedlund, Mitzi (Brad) Alden, Marilyn (Mike) Davis; 19 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews relatives and friends.
The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 28, 2019, at 11:00am (visitation from 10-11:00am) at Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home in Webster with Pastor Tom officiating. A time of fellowship and remembrance will be held immediately following the service at the Crooked Lake Park in Siren.
Honorary Pallbearers are Violet’s 10 grandchildren.
