Verner & Violet Dahlberg

Grantsburg

Verner G. Dahlberg, age 94, of Grantsburg, died on May 27, 2025. His wife, of 77 years, Violet A. Dahlberg, age 91, preceded him in death on January 7, 2025. Verner and Violet were married on November 26, 1948, in Minneapolis. After their marriage, the couple moved to Superior, WI where Verner was in college. After graduating, he took a teaching job in Superior for three years before moving to Coon Rapids, MN in 1957. Verner spent 30 years as a teacher and assistant principal for Minneapolis Public Schools until his retirement in 1985. Verner was a strong advocate for education and learning, continuing his own education earning a master's degree plus, and always instilled the importance of learning in his children. Most experiences were an opportunity to learn and grow.

During this time, Violet took care of raising seven children while Verner worked. Together they worked hard to take care of their family. The family enjoyed summers at their lake home, built by Verner, on Big Wood Lake, Grantsburg, WI. Verner and Violet enjoyed a couple of trips to Europe and Sweden, as well as many locations within the United States.

Violet enjoyed knitting, sewing, weaving, and tending to the home. She was known for her cooking and baking, especially her sticky rolls. Violet was actively involved with her children's education as a room mother participating in school field trips and always attending PTA meetings. When the kids were older, Violet worked as a home health aide and a nurse's aide.

Verner had a passion for bee keeping, music, trout and musky fishing, ham radio and classic cars and other hobbies and interests too numerous to mention.

After retirement, Verner and Violet moved to Wood Lake, and have lived there ever since, enjoying their passions, hobbies and spending time with family and friends.

Blessed be their memories.

Survivors include their children, Howard (Jill) Dahlberg, Rebecca Armstrong, Paul (Dawn) Dahlberg, Sharon Anderson, James (Marian) Dahlberg, Carolyn Shore, and Bruce Dahlberg; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two siblings, Jane (Joe) Yira and John E.
