Stephen Chester “Tanski”

November 10, 1963 – August 13, 2026

Stephen Chester Tanski, lovingly known as “Tanski” age 62, passed away in Duluth, Minnesota, on August 13, 2026, with his partner, Kim Bakken, and friend Char by his side. Steve was born on November 10, 1963, in Fayetteville, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by Mary Pauline Gonet, and Greg Gonet (Stepfather) and his son Chester Tanski. Throughout his life, Steve called many places home, including Georgia, St. Paul and Woodbury, Minnesota, andRoberts and Webster, Wisconsin.

Steve and his partner, Kim Bakken, loved to travel together. They shared many adventures, visited new places, and created countless memories along the way.

Steve is survived by his father: Chester Tanski (Connie), his son, Jeff Tanski (Courtney Gardner) and his granddaughter, Charlotte Ann Tanski. His sisters: Carolyn Humbeautel(John), Jenn Courter(Jeff), Jessica Gonet Beaman. His brothers, Mike Tanski (Anne), Greg Gonet (Theresa), and many nieces and nephews.

Steve was a wonderful man that would give you the shirt off his back. His kindness, friendship and caring nature touched the lives of many people. Steve will be remembered for his friendship, his sense of humor, his love of motorcycles, his collector cars, S x S riding. He leaves behind many friends and loved ones who will miss his presence, his stories, and the memories they shared with him.

Though he is no longer with us, Stephen’s memory will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved him. You will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

The Family invites you to his Celebration of Life on September 27, 2026, at Webb Lake Tavern, from 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
