Roberta "Bobbi" Violet Okerlund, age 77, resident of Webster, Wisconsin, departed this world on July 13, 2025, at United Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Roberta, a cherished soul, was born on March 29, 1948, in Elk River, Minnesota, to Robert and Grace (Borst) Heath. With an unwavering spirit and a heart full of love, she navigated her life with optimism, becoming an integral part of many lives she touched throughout her journey.
Roberta graduated from high school in Elk River, and after served as a dedicated secretary at the University of Minnesota. It was here that she met her beloved husband, Bill, who she married on July 3, 1970. Later, she continued her career with the Postal Service, furthering her commitment to helping and serving others.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Roberta's personality shined brightly. She was a person who adored people, always embodying a positive demeanor that was a source of comfort for those around her, even in the face of health challenges. Roberta had a remarkable gift for caring; she was always ready to lend a supportive hand whenever she could.
Her zest for life was reflected in her myriad of interests. She enjoyed collecting stamps, playing cards, and cherished the moments spent during family reunions. With over 100 pen pals at one time, she found joy in writing letters, keeping connections alive across distances. Roberta loved listening to music from the likes of Elvis and Tina Turner. Her love for nature transpired through her fondness for feeding hummingbirds and woodpeckers, and she could often be found absorbed in romance novels or engaged in stimulating word search books.
Roberta’s legacy of love and connection will be carried on by her surviving family: her dear sisters, Shirlie Sebeck, Marie Straw, and Bonnie (John) Heath; her beloved niece, Renee (Tim) Schleif; nephews Robert Straw and Travis (Julie) Sebeck; and niece Shannon (Tim) Richardson.
She joined her beloved family members who predeceased her, her husband, Bill, her parents, Robert and Grace, her brother-in-law, Bobby Straw, and her niece, DeeAnn Straw.
Roberta Violet Okerlund's life was a testament to the beauty of human connection, the strength of familial bonds, and the joy of simple pleasures. She leaves behind a legacy that serves as a poignant reminder of the power of positivity, love, and resilience. She will be deeply missed, yet her memory will forever be cherished.
A visitation at 1:00 PM and memorial service at 2:00 PM to honor her life will take place on July 25, 2025, at Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Homes in Webster, Wisconsin.
