Robert (Bob) A. Reese, age 79, a resident of Webster passed away on Friday, September 6, 2013 at St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth. Bob was born on February 14, 1934 in rural Webster to Frank and Edna (Kuehn) Reese. In his younger years, the family moved to the end of West Oak Street in the Village of Webster where the children were able to walk to and from school, while Bob claimed uphill both ways. He attended high school in Webster and was very active in sports. After graduation he worked at Armour Meat packaging for a few months before joining the Marine Corps. He served as a machine gunner while in Korea . After his honorable discharge, Bob went to Northern Minnesota where he worked with his dad in the pulp woods. In 1957, he married Mary and they made their home in a logging camp for about 7 years. After leaving camp, they moved back to Webster to raise their family. Bob worked for M.G. Astleford bridge builders for a few years and then became a commercial carpenter. He worked on many large projects in the Twin Cities including the Metrodome, IDS Tower, Northwest Bank to name a few. After retiring he had more time to do the things he enjoyed golf, bowling, playing cards and fishing. He was passionate about wood working creating many wonderful pieces for his friends and family. Bob was an active member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and the Moose Lodge. He was preceded in death by an infant son; his parents; brothers Charles (Frankie) and Larry. Bob is survived and will be sadly missed by his wife of 56 years Mary; children Kelly (Robin); Brad (Kim); Jim (Linda) and Carla (John) Lannon; his siblings Fred (Judi); Donald; Janet (Larry) Koch and Wanda (Mike) Fiddle; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be Thursday, September 12, 2013 from 5-8 PM at Swedberg-Taylor Family Funeral Home, Webster. Memorial service Friday, September 13, 2013 at 11:00 AM (visitation 10-11 AM) at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Webster.
