Robert Fossum

Robert “Bob” Eugene Fossum, age 85, of Falun, WI, passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2016. Bob was born on March 15, 1931, in Karlsborg (Lincoln Township), Burnett County, WI, to Ruby (Johnson) and John Fossum. He attended the Karlsborg one-room Schoolhouse. During and after school, he helped work on the family farm. Bob was united in marriage to Marvel M. Erickson on November 22, 1954, in Pine City, MN. After their union, Bob enlisted in the United States Army on January 7, 1955, and was stationed primarily at Fort Sill in Lawton, OK. He received an honorable discharge on December 18, 1956. The family then moved back to the Falun area where Bob and Marvel raised their three children. He was a proud longtime member of the Grantsburg American Legion Post #185. Bob enjoyed tending to his garden, hunting, fishing, fixing lawn mowers and building bird houses. Bob is preceded in death by his parents, John and Ruby Fossum; his wife, Marvel, in 2009; a grandson, Ian Fossum, in 2010; and 6 brothers; and 2 sisters. Bob is survived by his children: Tim (Janet) Fossum, Brian Fossum, and Janet (Rod) Dahl; grandchildren: Shannon, Lindsey, Jared, Jason, Adam and Melissa; great-grandchildren, Tavia and Mason; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Graveside Services will be conducted on Monday, July 11, 2016 at 11:00am at the Ekdall Cemetery, 13295 County Rd. F, West Marshland Twp, north of Grantsburg, WI. Full military honors will conclude the service. Arrangements were entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Grantsburg, WI.
