Obituary

This isn’t your ordinary obituary this is coming from our broken hearts.

Our mom and dad moved to Siren Wisconsin about 2 years ago and they had so much fun meeting all of our friends and going to meet raffles and listening to music with us they loved coming to the cabin and they loved having their own place.

Richard Zappa passed away 5 months after his beautiful wife Janice Zappa, which was on March 17th. Dad ultimately passed away from a broken heart, they were married for almost 66 years. He took so good care of our mom while she was battling her cancer and dementia and he paid little attention to his own health.

Richard (Dick) passed away on August 21st.

There will be a ceremony at the VA Cemetery in Spooner on Wednesday, September 16th at Noon. Dad made a beautiful wooden urn for him and Mom to be buried together.

He is survived by his children, Lisa Sager (Tim), Laurie Seebach (Jon), Tom Zappa (Diane).

Grandchildren: Chris Kaufman, Amanda Oliver (Isaac), Timmy Sager (Mikayla), Kate Pilat (Tyler).

Great-grandchildren: Eve, Leo, Vivian, Mason, Ella, Teddy.

Many friends, nieces, and nephews.

Dad loved listening to music by the Eagles, along with many other genres, and enjoyed dancing in the living room with his bride in the last couple of years, having their own place. He was a hard shell on the outside but melted on the inside for her. After she passed, he bought her a single rose every week to remember her by; what a romantic.

Both of them adored having grandkids over. They all brought them so much joy, even when they had the hardest day health-wise. Grandpa would have a car show on as Mason would be tuned in and asking him a bunch of questions.

The day before he passed away, my son Chris and I (Lisa) were at the hospital, and I had brought him his necklace, which consisted of his wedding ring and Mom’s ashes, and I put them on his heart and said, “Dad, please close your eyes and go be with Mom; she is on your heart now”, and it was 1:07 am the next morning that he passed away. It’s hard to read this without crying. I (Lisa) and our family and friends miss both of them every day.

We love you, Mom and Dad, Gigi and Grump, but we know that you both are dancing in heaven and happier than ever being reunited.

Love, Lisa and family
