Obituary

On Sunday, June 28, 2026, Peggy Skold, beloved mother, wife, and grandmother, passed away at the age of 66 after many years of battling cancer, surrounded by her family.

Peggy was born on September 6, 1959, in Cumberland, Wisconsin, to Clarence and Dorothy (Bruce) Neely. She met and started a life with her best friend Ron Skold on November 28, 1983, and they married on December 30, 2000. Together they raised two sons, Benjamin and Matthew, and one daughter, Hannah. Peggy owned a beautiful specialty gifts store in Siren before she returned to school to finish her degree. She then went on to serve her community as an addiction therapist for many years, including at the renowned Hazelden treatment facility, as well as serving as a member of the Burnett County Drug Court.

Peggy was a talented artist, and many in her community will be able to keep her memory alive through the beautiful art she created. She loved the impressionists, and watercolor landscapes were her favorite to do, as well as pet portraits! She was also an accomplished gardener and maintained extensive flower gardens, including her favorites, and wedding flowers, Star Gazer lilies. She often quoted her favorite lines from movies and sitcoms like The Jerk, Christmas Vacation, and Frasier, and was the biggest Beatles fan the world has ever seen. She even got to see Paul McCartney front row with Ron and Hannah, a beloved memory of the family. Everyone who knew her could attest to how generous, intelligent, funny, creative, and loving she was, but her children most of all know what a truly wonderful mother she was. She loved unconditionally, and more than anything else, what she wanted out of life was to be surrounded by her kids and grandkids. To be in her life was to know that you had a home, that you always had a place to belong, that, as she said, “home is where your mom is.”

Peggy was preceded in death by her father Clarence, her mother Dorothy, her brother Terry Neely, her sister Bonnie Chivers, and her beloved husband Ron. She is survived by her three children, Benjamin, Matthew, and Hannah; siblings Jan Christensen, Mary Lake, Jerry Neely, and Ted Neely; two grandchildren, Anthony and Alyssandra, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

The family will be holding a memorial service at Mud Hen Lake Cemetery in Siren, WI on July 11, 2026, at 2 PM. They would be honored if you would attend to help them say goodbye to Peggy and celebrate her incredible life. If you would like to send flowers, please send potted flowers that can be displayed at the cemetery, or donations for funeral expenses may also be sent to 1901 W 80 1/2th St, Apt 411, Bloomington, MN 55431.

Arrangements were entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home. Condolences may be expressed online at swedberg-taylor.com.
