Mary Lou (Langevin) Svien, age 82, of Danbury, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, May 28, 2014. She was born February 21, 1932, in St. Paul, MN, only child of Louis and Genevieve (Konkel) Langevin. Mary Lou was baptized and confirmed at St. Agnes Catholic Church, St. Paul. She attended school there and was a 1950 graduate of St. Agnes High School. On July 9, 1951, Mary Lou married James Svien. They lived in St. Paul and also River Falls, WI for about twenty years. In 1973, Mary Lou and James moved to Prescott, WI. In 1988, they purchased a lake cabin in Swiss Township, where the family spent every summer. James passed away on April 19, 1996. In 2013, Mary Lou moved her permanent home to the lake cabin. Mary Lou loved her family, and was a dedicated wife and mother. She truly adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and loved attending their school sporting events. She appreciated the outdoors at the lake. She also enjoyed fishing and bowling, and was an avid Packer fan. Surviving are three children: Michael (Donna) Svien, Roseann Svien, and Donald (Lynn) Svien; eight grandchildren: Melanie (Erik) Spies, William (Jennifer) Svien, Kelly (Nicky) Svien, Paul (Jennifer) Svien, Michael Svien Jr., Jessica Svien, Ben (Samantha) Svien, and Kevin Svien; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, James. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am (visitation 10-11am), Saturday, May 31, 2014, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Webster, with Fr. Mike Tupa officiating. Burial will be on a later date in Fort Snelling National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to PO Box 245 Danbury, Wisconsin.
