Margaret Westlund

Margaret Lucille Westlund, Age 86 Passed away October 10, 2012 at Heritage of Elmwood Nursing Home. Margaret grew up in the Siren area and attended elementary school (through 8th grade) at May School and 2 years of high school in Siren. Her early adult life was spent in the Siren area, also. She moved to rural Clayton when she married Wallace. She worked at home when her children were young. As they grew older, she had various seasonal & part time jobs. Later, she offered live-in home care for elderly folks. She was proud to enable her clients to stay in their own homes longer. After retiring she moved back to Siren to spend her golden years. Margaret had a passion for her family & home. She enjoyed attending events at the Siren’s senior center. Everyone who met her said she was a sweet lady. She will be missed and fondly remembered by all. Margaret is survived by 2 sons, Dave(Terri) Bristol & Rod Westlund; 2 daughters Florence (Don) Pearson & Ruby Westlund (Nick Mesenbourg), 1 sister, Florence Tessmer; 2 brothers, Larry (Jeanne) Dake & Walter (Norma) Dake; 3 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by parents Harry and Annie (Carlson) Dake and husbands Dave Turner and Wallace Westlund. A visitation will be held Monday, October 15, 2012 from 4-6 PM at the Swedberg-Taylor Family Funeral Home, Siren Chapel. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at 1:00 PM (visitation 12-1 PM) at the Siren United Methodist Church with Pastor Gil White officiating. Interment will follow at the Siren Lakeview Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Nick Mesenbourg, Jim Dake, Dan Flodin, Harold Larson and Jim Richison.
