Lester B. Anton, age 90, a resident of St. Croix Valley Good Samaritan Center formerly of Siren died January 20, 2011. Lester was born on the family farm on July 19, 1920 to Arthur and Ruby Anton in Lorain Township, Burnett County. He married Leone Hanson on August 23, 1940 in Pine City, Minnesota. He then enlisted in the United States Army serving with the 82nd Airborne Division during World War II. After the service he went to work for the Burnett County Highway Department where he worked until his retirement. During this time he also ran his own antique shop with Leone and had the Laundromat is Siren for a number of years. After retiring he enjoyed much of his time on the Clam River and his hobby became travel. Lester moved into Capeside Cove Good Samaritan Center in 2003, shortly before Leone passed away. After Capeside Cove closed their doors, Lester was transferred to the St. Croix Valley Good Samaritan Center in St. Croix Falls. Lester was preceded in death by Leona in 2003; and his parents. He is survived by his children Gregory Anton and David (Linda) Anton; grandchildren Chris Anton, Kimberly Wambolt, Mikal (Mystie) Anton; and Jae (Todd) Swenson; 13 great grandchildren; along with other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Monday, January 24, 2011 at 11:00 AM (visitation 10-11 AM) at Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Siren Chapel with Pastor Steve Ward officiating. Music will be provided by Pat Taylor and Fran McBroom. Interment will follow at the Laketown Cemetery in Laketown Township, Polk County. Casketbearers will be Corey Bauer, Chris Anton, Mikal Anton, Todd Swenson, and Wade Wambolt. Arrangments were entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Siren.
