In Loving Memory of Jeret Jacob Corty

Remember Jeret for the man he was at his core, a man who was daring, fearless, protective, and beautifully unpredictable. He showed up for people. His smile and quick wit left you wanting more; you felt his energy and presence in every room he entered. That was who Jeret truly was. While addiction and mental illness became part of his story, they never defined the person he was at heart.

He had a restless, adventurous spirit and a mind that came alive around anything with a motor. Jeret loved working on trucks, snowmobiles, and anything he could take apart and put back together. In the final weeks of his life, he shared that his newest passion was riding his motorcycle. On the open road, surrounded by wind, speed, and sky, he found a sense of freedom and quiet comfort from the pain he carried.

Jeret was remarkably athletic. From childhood sports to any physical challenge he took on, movement gave him pride, recognition, and a sense of belonging. It was one of the places he felt most like himself.

Jeret was deeply loved by his mother, Leigh and Willy, and his father, Shaun and Nikki, a love beyond words and beyond measure.

His greatest pride was his daughter, Lasie. At just two years old, she was his brightest joy. He loved her fiercely, with a devotion that anchored him even in his darkest moments.

Though he did not have biological siblings, Jeret had siblings in every way that mattered. His cousins, Thia, Lexi, Austin, Harlei, Dillyn, Logan, Kimber, and Brynn, and his stepbrothers, Dakota and Cooper, were his family, his constants, his circle. He saw them not as extended family, but as brothers and sisters of the heart. As he grew into adulthood, he was also building strong and meaningful relationships with Jordan and Whitney. Jeret cherished being an uncle to Marlie, Bentley, Brody, Magnolia, Marcella, and Lincoln.

Jeret shared an extraordinary bond with his Grandma Lana, one that began the day he was born and only deepened throughout his life. She was a constant in his world and loved him immensely.

He also shared an adventurous connection with his Grandpa Gary. Together, they created lasting memories, fishing trips to Canada, and soaring through the sky in Grandpa Gary’s float plane.

His aunties, Toni, Ryan, and Darla, loved Jeret like their own. Their care and steady presence were deeply meaningful parts of his life.

Jeret had an incredible ability to draw people in. Throughout his life, he made friends easily; people were naturally pulled to his energy, his bold spirit, and the way he made every moment feel bigger, louder, and more meaningful. He showed up for his friends just as he did for his family: fully, fiercely, and without hesitation. The friendships he built were deep, loyal, and lasting, each one a reflection of the vibrant person he was.

Jeret’s life included battles with mental health and substance use, struggles that neither defined nor diminished his true character. His story is one of courage, adventure, adrenaline, loyalty, passion, and love.

We find comfort in knowing Jeret is at peace, reunited with his Grandpa Dennis Corty; his great-grandparents Darcy and Grace Stark, Rudy and Gloria Wahlen, Rudy and Ardyce Marek, Don and Merna Corty; and finally meeting his grandma, Cindy. May he be surrounded by love and the family who went before him.

A Message of Hope Through Jeret’s Legacy

Jeret’s legacy is one of loyalty, courage, and unwavering love. He showed up for people, friends, family, and anyone in need, and that spirit lives on. His struggles with mental health and substance use were real and heavy, but they do not erase the light he brought into the world. Instead, they remind us how deeply these challenges can affect even the strongest, most vibrant souls.

In honoring Jeret, we honor every person who faces these battles and every family who stands beside them. His life encourages us to speak openly, love fiercely, support one another without hesitation, and continue advocating for compassion and understanding. Through Jeret’s story, may others find strength, connection, and the hope that healing is possible, and that no one has to face their struggles alone.

A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Swedberg Funeral Home in Grantsburg, Wisconsin, with visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m.
