James Pardun

March 21, 1938 — November 16, 2022

James Everett Pardun, age 84, a resident of Frederic, WI passed away on November 16, 2022.

Jim was born on March 21, 1938 in Danbury, WI to Everett and Nellie (Hansen) Pardun.

In high school Jim lettered in football and track where he earned the nickname “Speed” due to his lack of it. After graduating from high school, Jim attended Wisconsin State College in Superior earning a degree in Biology with a minor in education. He was certified to teach elementary levels. He taught two years at the one room Pansy School near Riverside, WI.

Jim worked for the Burnett County Highway Department for 33 years plowing snow as well as many other tasks and was heavily involved in law enforcement throughout his life. Jim was a special conservation warden for 10 years and worked for game and fish management where he was a limited term employee for special state projects. One project was conducting a creel census on the Brule River gathering information on fish stocks. Jim served for 20 years with the Burnett County Reserve Officers Corp where he earned his rank of Lieutenant, served many years as police deputy for the city of Luck, and was also a registered EMT who was certified for ambulance service. Many people came to know Jim by him peeking out the window at the Oakland Collection Center. The visitors as well as their dogs loved Jim at the dump as he always had a dog treat ready to hand out and in turn the owners had a few cookies and snacks ready for him.

Jim had a true love for the great outdoors. He was always ready for a good round of trap shooting, hunting local grouse and rabbits to Colorado mule deer. In his younger days he was an avid trapper and fisherman. Jim enjoyed charter fishing trips on Lake Superior and enjoyed ice fishing for walleye and northern pike back in his hometown. Later in life when Jim’s health slowed him from being in the woods, he was always ready to take family members on long drives around Burnett County. They all thought he knew every back road and trail in the county and had driven them all. He loved to teach others about the outdoors and was a certified hunter safety instructor for 10 years.

Jim was a lifetime member of Whitetails Unlimited and served on the local chapter committees for over 25 years. He was inducted into the Whitetails Unlimited Hall of Fame.

In 2019 Jim gave his heart to Jesus Christ and looked forward to spending eternity with his Lord and Savior.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and former wife, Lori Pardun.

Jim is survived by his daughter, Crystal Jarrell of Siren; granddaughter, Jenna (Joshua) Henry of Webster; grandson, Robert Jarrell of Siren; great grandchildren, Howard and George Henry; brother, William (Diane) Pardun of Tampa, FL, other relatives and friends.
