Gary L. Forney, a man who lived life at full speed and embraced every moment with courage and a fearless spirit, passed away peacefully on May 25th, 2025, surrounded by love. Known for taking chances and living boldly, Gary was a truly adventurous soul whose passions included fishing, baking from scratch, and tinkering in the garage with his trusty Chevy trucks. He had a deep appreciation for the simple pleasures-fishing on a starry night, camping in the Boundary Waters, or sharing a cup of coffee with a visitor-always ready to lend a listening ear or help a friend in need.
Gary believed in living life on his own terms, full of adventure and love. His easygoing nature, generous spirit, and down-to-earth charm left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. He was the beloved life partner of Karri Butler, with whom he spent many cherished years. He was also a father to five children, a role he approached in his own unique way.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Roselea; father, Harold Forney; sister, Sherry (Forney) Lemmons and former spouse Debbie (Olson) Shafer. His bold spirit and zest for life will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all those fortunate enough to call him a friend. Gary's legacy of courage, adventure, and kindness will be remembered with warmth.
