Garry Lynn Brooks Obituary

Garry Lynn Brooks, 71, passed away Sunday, July 13, 2025. A celebration of life service will take place on Friday, August 22, 2025. Visitation will be from
10am - 11am followed by the celebration of life service from 11am - 12pm at Eagle Brook Church - Woodbury, located 11125 Eastview Road, Woodbury, MN 55129.

Garry was born July 21, 1953, in Kansas City, Missouri. Garry attended Oak Park High School in Gladstone, Missouri. At 18, Garry started working for the Farmland COOP which led to a long career with Farmland Industries and CHS, Inc. Garry attended college at the School of the Ozarks. While attending college Garry was active with the agricultural department, specifically his prize-winning pigs. During his career, Garry made friends everywhere he went, they weren't just co-workers and customers but treasured friends. He was always quick witted and ready to come back with a joke, no matter the situation.

Garry had many hobbies and was good at many things. If you had a question, you could always ask Garry, and he would have an answer or he would just make it up. Garry was always there to offer help and support to anybody who needed it, day or night. Whether that was taking a friend to an appointment or just playing in the dirt. Garry had a passion for building decks and many accessories to go along with those decks. He wasn't just satisfied with building a deck - he would also build benches and planters, etc. to accessorize the deck. Garry's latest hobby was working with Turf and Tundra ATV club to promote safety on the ATV trails. Garry and his good friend Eric were committed to the Trail Ambassador program and promoting youth safety. Garry started the youth cadet program through
WATVA and started a youth helmet program, providing free helmets to youth. Garry also had a great passion for bowling. Every year that he was able you could find him on a bowling league and rooting for the KC Chiefs!

Before retirement, Garry took one ride on the trails in Danbury, WI and he was hooked on ATV riding for life. Over the years Garry learned most (he would say all) of the trails in Wisconsin. However, I (Stacie) don't know if getting lost on a trail ride really makes you an expert...even if you found your way home. After retirement, Garry decided that
trailering his ATVs up to Danbury was no longer sufficient, he needed to be near the trails full-time. At his house, Garry would often see many deer walking through his property and even spotted the occasional black bear. His favorite encounter with a black bear was when a mama bear and her two cubs climbed up one of the trees out back.

Garry was the proud father of 3 amazing, most fabulous kids (
haha, its true). Garry had two daughters, Shawna (the oldest), Stacie (the middle) and Scott (the youngest, who towers over all of us). Garry was a doting grandfather to 4 grandsons...Keith, Levi, Caleb and Michael. Garry couldn't wait to teach them all the things associated with fishing, ATV riding and ATV safety.

Garry is preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Donna Brooks. Garry is not only survived by his children and grandsons but also his brother, Chris Brooks, sister, Penny Shaw, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Garry made a significant impact on the lives of many individuals, and his absence is greatly felt by all who knew him. The family will be holding a Celebration of Life service in Kansas City (MO). The date of the Kansas City service has yet to be determined.

In lieu of flowers, feel free to support one of Garry's passion projects.
1. Turf and Tundra Youth ATV Safety & Trail Ambassadors
2. Jackson Township (WI) Fire Department
