Elvera Wood

Elvera Jean Wood , age 87, of Grantsburg, WI, passed away on January 30, 2018 at the Burnett Medical Continuing Care Center. Elvera was born on July 13, 1930 in Dawson, MN to parents, Geraldine (Knox) and Bert Hanson. She graduated from Hanley Falls High School in 1948. On September 26, 1948, Elvera was united in marriage to Russell Wood. Elvera worked in the Housekeeping Department at Burnett Medical Center in Grantsburg. She enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles, baking and playing games. She was a lifetime member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Grantsburg. Preceding her in death are her parents, Bert and Geraldine (Knox) Hanson; husband, Russell; sister, Harriet (Harold) Schilling; and infant daughter, Connie Jean. Elvera is survived by her children: Dianna (Malcolm) Wilson of Fayetteville, AR, Allan Wood of Grantsburg, Cheryl Peasley of Balsam Lake, Joel Wood of Grantsburg, Timothy Wood of Grantsburg and Thomas (Joni) Wood of South Range, WI; grandchildren: Gordon Shaske of Hampstead, MD, Alex (Danyell) Davidyan of Benton, AR, Andy (Bethany) Wood of North Branch, MN, Lindsey Wood of Anckorage, AK, Cory Peasley of Luck, Cara Peasley of Grantsburg, and Jennifer Wood, Joshua Wood and Jeffrey Wood, all of Superior, WI; great-grandchildren: Hannah, Bella, Aaron, Addison and Hayden; sister, Lois Hanson of Minneapolis, MN; and many other relatives and friends. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at 2:00pm (visitation from 1:00pm-2:00pm) at Faith Lutheran Church in Grantsburg with Pastor Mike Peterson officiating. Interment will be held at Riverside Cemetery following the service. Pallbearers are: Joshua Wood, Jeffrey Wood, Andy Wood, Cory Peasley, Andy Tatham and Jennifer Wood. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations preferred to Faith Lutheran Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home in Grantsburg.
