With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Diane Lucille (Ubelhoer) Listerud, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a fierce friend, who left this world on September 1, 2026, at the age of 78. Born on January 8, 1948, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Dee was the daughter of Robert and Viola (Bly) Ubelhoer. She was proceeded in death by her parents and her brother, Dale Ubelhoer, leaving behind a legacy of love and creativity.

Dee's life was a testament to the beauty of living with passion and purpose. She married the love of her life, John A. Listerud, with whom she shared 59 years of marriage. Together, they cultivated a life full of adventure and dedication, and they later poured their hearts into running the Hillside Inn with their daughter Dana and her husband Bob, infusing it with warmth and hospitality.

A woman of deep faith, Dee was an active member of Northland Community Fellowship, where she deepened her love for God and shared her life experiences with others. Her spirit of generosity and kindness touched all who knew her, and she leaves behind a legacy of love and service.

Dee's artistic soul found expression in her many creative endeavors. Whether she was sewing, drawing, painting, or teaching, she loved to make the world more beautiful. She enjoyed spending time on the farm with her animals and cherished the moments she spent leading children in 4H. Dee loved sharing her knowledge through teaching Mad-Science, dog training, and archery classes to local children. Her love for adventure was unmatched, as she relished a long road trip, discovering new places and creating memories along the way.

Dee is survived by her devoted husband, John Listerud, and their children: Julie Pierce, Sheila (Todd) Roemeling, and Dana (Bob) Olsen. She was the proud grandmother to seven grandchildren: Shay, Tay, Shalana, Sazja, Mindy, Jamie, and Emily, and seven great-grandchildren: Tate, Briella, Ian, Raelynn, Winnie, Eloise, and Zoey. Her family was the center of her world, and her love for them knew no bounds. The many "bonus children" she embraced along her journey were a testament to her endless love and compassion.

A celebration of Dee's life will take place on September 18, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Hillside Inn of Danbury, WI. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Dairyland Volunteer Fire Department honoring Dee’s generous spirit.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the first responders and the compassionate staff at St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth for their care and support during Dee's final days. Diane Lucille Listerud will be remembered for her unwavering love, her boundless creativity, and her unshakeable spirit. She will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched.
