Avis Baker

Avis Ellen (Hellman) Baker was born to Clyde and Alma Pearson Hillman on July 15, 1931, in the township of Parida, Burnett County, Wisconsin.

Avis passed away on April 17, 2026, at The Cumberland Care and Rehab Center in Cumberland, Wisconsin at the age of 94.

Avis was married to Edward Baker on November 15, 1952, and to this union two daughters were born Dixie and Donna. Mom enjoyed like to its fullest. She was committed to her husband, family and her faith. Mom enjoyed gardening, canning, freezing, cooking and baking. In her free time, she enjoyed camping, bingo, word puzzles and putting puzzles together, board games and exercising daily.

Mom worked at Alcan’s Sewing Factory in Centuria, Wisconsin, Cranberry March in Hertel, Wisconsin. Her most rewarding job was being a personal health care worker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Alma Hillman, her beloved husband of 56 years, Eddie Baker. Carrie) Jeffery, Chad (Sue) Jeffery, Tory Jeffery, Amanda (friend Matthew) Jeffery and Grahme Jeffery.

A very special thank you to the staff at The Cumberland Care and Rehab Center for all the special care they gave to our mother. Also, a very special thank you to St. Croix Hospice for all the care they gave to mom.

Family will receive friends Wednesday, April 22nd from 9 am to 11 am at Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Webster, with services to follow at 11 am at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lorain Township Cemetery in Frederic.
