Obituary for Anthony Roger Johnson
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Anthony "Tony" Johnson, who left this world peacefully on May 13, 2025, at the age of 67. Tony was born on November 8, 1957, in Saint Paul, Minnesota, to Edwin Johnson and Edyth Olsen. He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 45 years, Shaun Johnson, and their two cherished sons, Joshua and Jake Johnson.
Tony was a proud veteran of the United States Army, where he served with honor and dedication. After his military service, he pursued a career in masonry, establishing himself as a self-employed contractor. His passion for building and crafting was evident in both his work and personal life, where he was always dreaming up new projects and creations.
An avid outdoorsman, Tony found joy in fishing, hunting, trapping, and biking, often accompanied by his beloved dogs: Vizsla Willy, Labs Buddy/Pal, and puppy Jed. The great outdoors was his sanctuary-a place where he thrived and felt truly at peace. He embraced life with an adventurous spirit and a warm heart, always seeking to share his love for nature and adventure with family and friends.
Tony leaves behind not only his wife and sons but also a legacy of love that extends to his grandchildren: Breanna Stevens, Kayleigh Seagraves, Gavyn Johnson, Marshall Witzke (great-granddaughter Swae Witzke), and Myka Witzke. He is also survived by his siblings: Mickey (Noel) Wetzel, Mary (Dan) Wetterling, Tom (Louella) Johnson, Bonita (Bobbie) & Bert Lewellyn, and Alice & Curtis Rath; his loving mother-in-law, Judy Frazee Rother; and his sister-in-law, Cheryl Hunter, and her children: Sarah (Ryan), Joe (Christa), Jenny (Scott), Shelly (Kyle), and Chelsea-as well as a multitude of nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will forever cherish the memories they shared with him.
Tony is preceded in death by his loving parents, Edwin Johnson and Edyth Olsen, and siblings Jeannie (Johnson) Okeson and Tim Johnson, whose spirits now join him on this new journey.
A memorial service to celebrate Tony's life will be held on May 23, 2025, at 4:00 PM, with a visitation prior from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Both services will take place at Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home in Webster, WI, where family and friends will come together to honor a remarkable man who touched so many lives with his kindness, creativity, and adventurous spirit.
In this time of sorrow, let us hold close the memories of Tony Johnson-a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. May his spirit continue to inspire us to seek joy in the simple things, just as he did throughout his life.
