Angie Marie Merrill, “Naawakamigookwe,” age 75, of Big Sand Lake, passed away on August 6, 2026, at her home.
She was born on May 8, 1951, at Big Sand Lake. Throughout her life, Angie remained deeply rooted in her family, culture, and community, carrying her name and spirit with strength, pride, and resilience.
She is lovingly survived by her children: Gary Stoner Jr., Mark Stoner Sr., and Crystal Stoner. She also leaves behind many cherished grandchildren: Acacia, Seth Sr., David, Tayler, David Jr., Mark Jr., Jade, Damon, Alex, Adrian, Kassidy, Elizabeth, Logan, Anna, Malainey, Mason, and Milo. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren: Brooklynn, Seth Jr., Lincoln, Ilaria, Casen, Xander, and Klairabelle. She is further survived by her nieces, Linda and Michaela, and nephews, William and Darren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Merrill and Susie Kasabin; her siblings, Eugene Merrill, Donna Mae LaVeau, and Larry Merrill; and her nephew, Wynn Merrill.
Pallbearers will be Seth Stoner Sr., David St. John Jr., Mark Stoner Jr., Damon Bearhart, Adrian Bearhart, Jade Merrill, Reuben Mixsooke, and Shawn Stevens.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Babe Butler, David St. John Sr., Frank Taylor, Mike Stoner Sr., William Merrill, Alex Fredrickson, Vern Lowe Jr., Michael Taylor, Dustin Reynolds, and Darren Merrill.
Officiant: Chato Gonzales
A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 8, at 2:00 p.m. at 24661 W Hertel Drive, Webster, Wisconsin. The service will begin at 10:00 a.m. on August 9, 2026, at the same location.
Angie will be laid to rest at Sand Lake Cemetery in Burnett County, Wisconsin.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.
