Almo Gustav Thiel, age 99, formerly of Webster, WI passed away on October 19, 2011 at Orchard Manor Care Facility in Lancaster. Almo was born on December 29, 1911 in Medford to Charles and Margaret Thiel. Almo was raised in Baraboo, WI, where he worked for the Baraboo News Republic. On August 25, 1940, Almo married Tossie Robinson in Baraboo, WI. During the war he worked at the Badger Ammunitions plant. After the war, he became a stereotyper for the St. Paul Pioneer Press. He retired in Feb. of 1977. In the spring of 1977 the couple moved to their lake home on Warner Lake in Burnett County. Almo loved to fish and hunt. Almo was preceded in death by his wife Tossie, his sister Cora and step brother, Harvey Nickol. He is survived by his nieces Patti (Patrick) Doughman, Audrey (Don)Buckenbueger, Kay Johnson and step sister, Helen Nickol. Almo was a proud member of the Moose Lodge No. 1194, Webster, the Masonic Lodge, Frederic and the Hayward Musky Shrine Club. The family gratefully acknowledges the professional care and compassion provided Almo by the staff of Orchard Manor Care Facility in Lancaster. A private burial will take place for Almo at a later date.
